COMMODORES-
|

| This group of 6, 7 or maybe more members was not all that familiar at the time that this music was being made. Their records, (45 r.p.m. singles and 33 and a 1/3 vinyl-albums), may have been selling in the millions but this was a segregated audience. White stations would never have played them and most white people were never encouraged to switch around black-radio in order to catch the funky-groove of Brick House or the balladry of Easy or Three Times A Lady. | |||||||||
| I looked up the defenition of the word Commodore and found it to mean someone above a captain's rank but still below an admiral, in the context of maritime fleets or even a warship. Which means, (to me), that these guys were somewhere in-between. In between the rhythm and blues or maybe just a pop band paying it's dues, with 2 great-sounding studio albums, Commodores(77)/ Natural High(78), and 1 double-tape cartridge titled Live(77), with an added studio-track, Too Hot To Trot, that sounds like a hit. | |||||||||
| I honestly cannot
evaluate this music except to say that the fidelity is more consistent
than many other Motown artists. Song Selections: COMMODORES NATURAL HIGH
